Rustico

Rustico House is a substantial historic home located in the Invererie Heights area of Port Stanley, Ontario. Built around 1870 or 1871 by William Fraser, this elegant summer retreat features a distinctive long gallery that stretches across the front of the house and extends partway down each side. Originally an open veranda, the gallery has since been enclosed with glass, creating a bright and inviting space.

William Fraser, the original owner, was one of the first conductors on the London and Port Stanley Railway and played a key role in developing the Invererie Heights neighbourhood where the house stands. His contributions to the community helped shape the growth of this picturesque area, making Rustico House a significant part of Port Stanley’s history.

The architecture of Rustico House reflects the charm of late 19th-century summer homes, combining functional design with stylish details. The spacious galleries provided cool, shaded outdoor living areas for enjoying lake breezes and scenic views. The house remains a well-preserved example of this period and style.

Today, Rustico House is a private residence, carefully maintained to preserve its historical character. Its location in Invererie Heights offers a peaceful setting just minutes from Port Stanley’s waterfront and village centre, making it a cherished landmark in the community.

Smoking is not permitted on the property, in line with local regulations. Visitors and residents alike respect the home’s heritage status and peaceful surroundings.
