Windjammer Inn

Windjammer Inn is a charming inn and restaurant located at 324 Smith Street in Port Stanley, Ontario. The property occupies a beautifully restored 19th‑century heritage home set just steps from Lake Erie. The building features inviting wrap‑around porches, cozy dining rooms, a well‑appointed bar, and a lush garden patio overlooking the water.

The inn dates back to circa 1854, based on heritage records identifying it as a pre‑Confederation home. It was transformed into the Windjammer Inn in the early 2000s under the ownership of chef Kim Saunders. The name pays homage to the tall sailing ships that once sailed Lake Erie and reflects the inn’s maritime setting.

Windjammer Inn offers three comfortable guest rooms inside the main house and two separate suites in an adjoining Carriage House. Each room is uniquely decorated, with modern amenities such as air‑conditioning and free Wi‑Fi. Guests wake up to a complimentary gourmet breakfast, often featuring seasonal local produce and homemade pastries.

The on‑site restaurant is open Friday and Saturday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., serving dinner or brunch depending on the day. The menu focuses on locally sourced ingredients, including farm‑fresh produce, artisanal cheese, handmade bread, and seasonal fish. During summer months, guests can dine on the garden patio with views of the lake.

Smoking is not permitted inside the inn, guest rooms, dining areas, or within a few metres of entrances. Guests who wish to smoke are asked to use designated outdoor areas well away from the building. Windjammer Inn remains a beloved destination, offering cozy accommodations, award‑worthy meals, and scenic lakeside atmosphere in Port Stanley.
